About temsirolimus
Temsirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor given weekly via IV infusion to block cancer cell growth and angiogenesis. Antihistamines are often given beforehand to reduce reaction risk.

- Low blood counts
- Rash or dry skin
- Swelling of arms or legs
- Mouth sores
- High cholesterol or glucose
- Fatigue or weakness
- Delayed wound healing
- Headache
- Muscle or joint pain
- High blood pressure
- Acne
- Nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite
- Sleep problems
- Nail changes
- Allergic reactions
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Kidney or liver problems
- Not all patients experience these effects. Report all symptoms.
Tips for families
- Discuss all instructions with the care team.
- Avoid grapefruit or Seville orange products.
- Maintain adequate hydration.
- Use birth control during treatment and for 3 months afterward.
