What is vinblastine?
Vinblastine is an IV chemotherapy drug that can cause tissue damage if extravasated. It slows or stops cancer cell division and is often used with other medicines.

- Jaw pain
- Difficulty walking
- Numbness or tingling in hands or feet
- Muscle pain or weakness
- Bone or joint pain
- Nausea or vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Pain when urinating
- Vision changes
- Dizziness
- Low blood counts
- Hair loss
- Low sodium levels
- Skin irritation at the IV site
- Not all patients experience these effects. Report all symptoms.
Tips for families
- Discuss instructions with the care team.
- A stool softener or laxative may be recommended.
- Report numbness, tingling, or nerve pain.
- Avoid grapefruit or Seville orange products.
- Use birth control during treatment and for 6 months afterward.
- Inform the doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Follow safe handling instructions; avoid contact with body fluids for 48 hours after dosing.
